Evaluation of Colour Correcting X Chrome Contact lenses
نویسنده
چکیده
Approximately 5% of the world’s population suffer from what is commonly called colour blindness. A small number of products are on the market that claim to improve colour discrimination for colour-blind observers. This study evaluates the performance of a particular product (Colour Correcting lenses) product by performing psychophysical experiments with a colour-blind observer. Without correction the observer was only able to respond correctly for 12 of the 25 Ishihara test plates; with correcting lenses, the observer scored 100% on the Ishihara test. However, performance of the observer on the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-hue test deteriorated with colour-correcting lenses with the error increasing substantially from a score of 188 to 380. This suggests that the correcting lenses do not reliably improve colour discrimination and may, in fact, make it worse. However, they did enable the observer to pass the Ishihara test.

متن کاملVision improvement by correcting higher-order aberrations with customized soft contact lenses in keratoconic eyes.
Higher-order aberration correction in abnormal eyes can result in significant vision improvement, especially in eyes with abnormal corneas. Customized optics such as phase plates and customized contact lenses are one of the most practical, nonsurgical ways to correct these ocular higher-order aberrations. We demonstrate the feasibility of correcting higher-order aberrations and improving visual...
متن کاملImproving the Experience of Contact Lens Wear: Avenues for Reflection and Change
Contact lenses are used as a method of correcting refractive errors. However, their use can be associated with periods of discomfort as well as occasional pathophysiological reactions. This inaugural edition of Optometry Rounds presents the latest findings to allow Optometrists to improve the experience of their patients who wear contact lenses, as well as to share knowledge with respect to con...
متن کاملThe study of Lysozyme adsorption onto 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylates and Silicon Hydrogel Contact Lenses
In order to increase the water content and the oxygen permeability of hydrogels used in themanufacture of contact lenses, the polar monomer Silicon Hydrogel Contact Lenses (SHCL), and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) were copolymerized with the hydrogels. Due to the presence ofpolar monomers in the conventional contact lenses, the major component of the human tear, lysozyme is extensively adso...
متن کاملA clinical decision support system for contact lens evaluation
Background: Contact lenses are transparent, thin plastic disks that cover the surface of the cornea. Appropriate lens prescription should be performed properly by an expert to provide better visual acuity and reduce side effects. The lens administration is a multi-stage, complex and time-consuming process involving many considerations. The purpose of this study was to develop a decision support...
